Anyone can develop an allergy at any time in his or her life, even without specific risk factors. Yet some people, including asthmatics, children, and those with a history of anaphylaxis, have an increased susceptibility to allergic reactions. The likelihood and severity of experiencing a repeat allergic reaction depends largely upon the type of allergen and the individual's sensitivity to it.

Medi-Life is committed to its mission. The company continues to look at new opportunities to make self-care simple. Expanding beyond addressing the needs of the epinephrine injector market with the Medi-Card, the firm is looking to examine the self-care process for diabetics who use insulin injectors, a $980 million market which continues to grow at a rate of 10% per annum. The Medi-Card may be modified incrementally to meet the injector needs of this market.
Heart patients must also carry certain medication with them at all times. Unfortunately, most patients do not carry the life saving medications because they find it too cumbersome to do so. Considering this, the firm has patented the Heart-Card, a device which allows Heart patients to easily carry these medications on their body.
Another potential application for the Medi-Card is in the diabetes market with the introduction of a Glucagon injector. “Glucagon is a hormone that raises the level of glucose in the blood.” According to Diabetes123.org, “everyone who uses insulin should have a glucagon [injector] for low blood sugar on hand at all times to counteract severe hypoglycemia that causes loss of consciousness”. Like epinephrine, glucagon must be injected. Unfortunately for patients, the only products on the market are bulky and intimidating to use. Unlike the epinephrine market, there are currently auto-injectors in this market.
